To the Journal editor:
Nine boys from Marquette attended the 2012 Boys State Program recently at Northwood University in Midland, Mich. Boys State began in Michigan in 1937, marking this year as the 75th Anniversary. David Broadway, William Mullett, Dylan Dowrick, Scott Kalishek, Nolan Kibit, Evan Kyle, William Morrison, Jacob Ogea and Lukas Sides were the delegates to this year's program. Boys State is a mythical 51st state, which attempts to deal with mythical problems in a simulated format. They deal with the world of politics by electing city, county and state officials. After the conventions, campaigns and elections, they learn how to work through problems to run their respective jurisdictions.
I want to thank these outstanding delegates and the following sponsors. Without these sponsors we would not be able to make this happen. Thanks to Range Bank, Cleveland Cliffs, Casa Calabria, N.A.P.A of Marquette, U.P. Catholic Credit Union, Buffalo Wild Wings, Mr. George Hyde, Gordon Foods, Pat Carpio Foundation, Mr. Frank Donckers of Post #44, S.A.L. of Post #44, Past Post Commander of Post #44 and American Legion Post #44.
