'Raiders of the Lost Ark' at library

MARQUETTE - The Friday Film Club will hold a screening of the film "Raiders of the Lost Ark" at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Peter White Public Library Community Room. "Raiders" is rated PG and runs for 115 minutes.

LST to stage 'Dandelion Cottage'

MARQUETTE - The Lake Superior Theatre will stage its production of "Dandelion Cottage," a play adaptation by Ron Riekki from the book by Carroll Watson Rankin, Wednesday through Sunday and again July 25-29.

Director Bobby Glenn Brown is planning an adventure for the community, with this story of four young girls who take over a small, deserted home and fix it up for their use as a clubhouse. They earn the right to use the cottage as their own for a whole summer as long as they pull all of the dandelions from the lawn.

The box office is in Elwood Mattson Lower Harbor Park near the water's edge (the small lighthouse) and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. Tickets cost $15 for adults; $12 for seniors and students; $7.50 for 14 and younger; and $10 each in groups over 10.

Library to screen 'Hugo'

MARQUETTE - Summer Cinema will host a screening of the film "Hugo" at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the Peter White Public Library Community Room. The film is rated PG and runs for 127 minutes.

Piano concert at women's club

MARQUETTE - A piano concert at the Marquette Federated Women's Clubhouse at 7 p.m. Wednesday will feature Amanda Matznick. Guest performer will be her teacher, Bob Buchkoe.

A free-will offering will be taken at the concert to help Matznick go to summer music camp.

Beautification group to meet

NEGAUNEE - The Negaunee Beautification Committee will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Miners Park in Negaunee. A work bee will be held followed by a meeting. All are welcome, and no garden experience is needed.

The committee also will host a booth at the July 25 Negaunee Farmers Market at Miners Park.

Board of Health to meet

MARQUETTE - The Marquette County Health Department's Board of Health will hold a special meeting regarding strategic planning from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday and from 3 to 5 p.m. July 31 in the basement conference room of the Marquette County Health Department in Negaunee.
