Henry was right

July 10, 2012
The Mining Journal

To the Journal editor:

There was an article in The Mining Journal on June 23's front page called "Edsel tours the U.P. This was Mr. Ford's first visit to Marquette and the city is the smallest town to "host" the MAFCA (Model A Ford Club of America) convention."

The host was the Superior A's Club of Ishpeming. Marquette participated in the convention by having the facilities large enough to hold all the people we had coming to town.

That is why we rented Northern Michigan University and the Dome and greatly appreciate all Marquette's involvement to help us make this once-in-a-lifetime event that took us Yoopers to work together and show all the people who attended our Upper Peninsula spirit.

Henry Ford loved being in the U.P. and the convention attendees saw in person that Henry was right.
