L'ANSE - Preston Maki drove in three runs and six pitchers combined to scatter five hits and strike out 13 as the Negaunee 9-10 Minors baseball team took an 11-2 District 11 win over Penokee Range Friday in L'Anse.
Maki hit a run-scoring sacrifice fly and drove in two more runs with a single for the winners, who broke the game open with three runs in the second inning and four in the third.
Alex Munson, Jackson Sager and Will Luke added two hits apiece in a 10-hit Negaunee attack.
Jadan Grobar, Maki, Munson, Jason Waterman, Eric Anderson and Sager all took turns on the mound for Negaunee.
With Negaunee leading 1-0 in the top of the second inning, Penokee Range loaded the bases with no one out.
Grobar then struck out two batters before a one-hour rain delay halted play.
When play resumed, Maki came on in relief and induced a groundout to end the inning.
