Marcia Ann Houle

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Marcia Ann Houle, age 66, of 4 Jack Street, Marquette, entered eternal life July 4, 2012, at Marquette General Hospital in the loving care of her family.

Born September 12, 1945, in Marquette, a daughter of Roy P. and Doris M. (Jorgenson) Black, Marcia was raised in Marquette and attended the John D. Pierce and Bishop Baraga schools. In 1977, through the Adult Education Program, she received her high school diploma from Marquette Senior High School. For over 28 years, Marcia was employed as a dietary technician in Marquette General Hospital's Dietary Department, retiring in 2007. In her leisure she loved frequenting the casino, knitting, crocheting, just plain "chatting," spending time on her computer, and most especially spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Robert P. Houle, whom she married February 1, 1964, in Marquette; her daughters, Tina Houle-Hassell of Marquette and Marybeth (Joe) Gendron of Gladstone; sons, Jerry (Kathy) Cox-Houle of Harvey, Robert (Diane) Houle, Jr. of Marquette, and Mike Houle of Green Bay, WI; grandchildren, Andrew, Jeremy, and Tiffany Rushton, Ashely Melka, Chelsea, Matthew, and Aereauna Houle, Kaylee and Jessica Hassell, Shannon and Aimee Gendron; several great-grandchildren; a sister, JoAnne of New York; a brother, Lloyd (Sharon) Black of Marquette; and a sister-in-law, Kae Hill of Dukes; numerous nieces and nephews. Additional survivors include her in-laws, Al "Sonny" Houle, Charlotte Houle, Don (Cheryl) Houle, Lloyd (Patty) Houle, Sandy (Jerry) Huron, Billy (Sandy) Houle, and Bill Beckman. Marcia was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Tom Black; and sister-in-law, Betty Beckman.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 11, at 2:00 p.m. in the Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel. Deacon David Adler will preside. Inurnment will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will greet friends at a reception to follow at the Bayou Inn, 200 W. Main Street, Harvey. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
