Frank Trombly

MUNISING, Mich. - Frank David "Crockett" Trombly, Sr., age 58, of 309 W. Onota Street, Munising, died on Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at 9:49 p.m. at Marquette General Hospital following a brief illness. He was born on February 21, 1954, in Munising to the late Alden "Baldy" and Ruth (Heikkila) Trombly.

Crockett graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School and then attended Grand Rapids Technical College. He married Sue Moore and together they raised their three boys. Crockett drove truck for Schlitz Distributing and then Gatiss Distributing. He worked for the City of Munising as a fire truck driver before going to work at Kimberly Clark on September 26, 1983. He worked as Utility Helper, #2 Size Maker, Fourth Hand, Third Hand, Back Tender, and Assistant Fireman. Crockett left the mill as a Turbine Operator in the Powerhouse with over 29 1/2 years of service on May 1, 2012. He married the former Julie Ann Ylinen on December 5, 1997. Crockett was a member of the Munising Volunteer Fire Department. He was a longtime member of the Pictured Rocks Golf Course where he had a Hole-In-One on #14 on August 21, 1997 and was Club Champion that same year. He coached his son's Little League teams, and Crockett was a huge Green Bay Packer and Detroit Tigers fan. He bowled his entire career for the People State Bank bowling team and although he didn't roll a 300, he did roll a 297 and a couple of 298s. He was an avid pool player and played in the pool league as well as the smear, euchre, and cribbage leagues. Crockett was a past member of the Munising Moose Lodge and he was a member of the Sons of the American Legion. He enjoyed watching the "old" shows of "Gunsmoke," "Bonanza" and "Andy Griffith." Crockett enjoyed being with his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife of over fourteen years, Julie Trombly of Munising; three sons, Frank Trombly, Jr. of Munising, Adam Trombly of Munising, and Eric Trombly of Marquette; his beautiful granddaughter, Neveah Rose Trombly; brothers, Dale (Cheryl) Trombly of Kingsford and Steve (Chris) Trombly of Munising; sister, Patsy (Greg) LaCombe of Munising; mother-in-law, Arlene Ylinen of Ishpeming; sisters-in-law, Barbara Trombly of Gwinn and Pam (Duane) Bocklund of Negaunee; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Crockett was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Wayne Trombly and Alden "Junior" Trombly, great-nephew and -niece Braden Petska and Payton Ollis.

Services will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Saturday, July 7, 2012. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Pastor Elisabeth Zant will conduct Crockett's funeral service at 7:00 p.m.
