MARQUETTE - Marquette City Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle that left the scene Wednesday night after striking and seriously injuring two pedestrians along South Front Street in Marquette.
Police said the 42-year-old female and 39-year-old male Marquette residents injured in the incident were at Marquette General Hospital today. Their names were being withheld, pending family members being notified about the incident.
Officers said the crash was reported at 10:28 p.m. and occurred at the intersection of South Front Street and Genesee Street. Police said the two pedestrians were walking east across Front Street from Genesee when they were struck by the vehicle, which was headed south along Front Street.

Police said a traffic light was flashing yellow for Front Street traffic at the intersection. The vehicle did not stop at the scene.
Investigators were working through witness statements today to put together more information on the incident.
Police are looking for additional witnesses and more information related to the accident.
Marquette County Sheriff's deputies, Michigan State Police troopers, Marquette Fire Department personnel and Marquette General Hospital and Medi-Ride EMS personnel assisted at the scene.
