MARQUETTE - Two suspects charged in connection with a stabbing in Marquette in mid-June have been bound over to Marquette County Circuit Court.

Ishpeming residents Taylor Shantel-Julann Mitchell, 19, and Danny Lee Weymouth, 19, appeared in Marquette County District Court for preliminary examinations, Monday, which both suspects waived.

The alleged stabbing occurred June 18 and sent Zachary Smith, 19, of Marquette, to the hospital with stab wounds to the back, leg and head.

Marquette County Prosecuting Attorney Matt Wiese characterized the incident as a "drug deal gone bad."

Mitchell and Weymouth are each charged with one count of creation and delivery of a (drug) analogue, a 15-year felony.

Mitchell is also charged with one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, a 10-year felony, and one count of assault with a dangerous weapon, a 4-year felony.

Both suspects are currently being held in Marquette County Jail and will appear in circuit court at 10:30 a.m. on July 13 for arraignment.
