Marquette man drowns at Van Riper State Park

MARQUETTE - Shawn Radcliffe Jr., 38, of Marquette, has been identified as the victim of a possible drowning in Lake Michigamme.

Michigan State Police troopers out of the Negaunee post were dispatched to Van Riper State Park in response to a possible drowning at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Radcliffe was located and recovered by the Marquette County Sheriff's Department Dive Team shortly after 10 p.m.

Marquette County Rescue Unit 131, Champion Township First Responders and Bell Hospital EMS also assisted at the scene.

No foul play is suspected and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
