U.P. Celebrity Golf Classic to benefit Beacon House

The Mining Journal

MARQUETTE - The second annual Upper Peninsula Celebrity Golf Classic kicked off with Wednesday's Match Up Party at L'Attitude and Waterfront restaurants in downtown Marquette.

It included a live auction and served to place the more than four dozen celebrities with their sponsored groups for today's golf outing on the Greywalls and Heritage courses at the Marquette Golf Club.

Organizers said last year's event raised about $50,000 and hope to double that this year for the Beacon House, which for 10 years has served as a hospitality house for patients and their loved ones who are receiving medical care in the area.
