Twenty-nine girls from the Champion, west Ishpeming, Ishpeming and Negaunee areas competed in two pageants earlier this month. Fourteen students entering first through third grades participated in the Independence Princess Pageant and 15 students entering third through fifth grades participated in the Miss Independence Pageant.
