The Mining Journal

HOUGHTON - Two incoming Michigan Tech freshmen were chosen in the NHL Draft in Pittsburgh on Saturday.

Left winger Jujhar Khaira of Prince George of the British Columbia Hockey League was selected by the Edmonton Oilers with the second pick of the third round, 63rd overall, while goaltender Jamie Phillips of Toronto of the Ontario Junior Hockey League went to the Winnipeg Jets in the seventh round with the 190th overall pick.

They join current MTU player Blake Pietila of Brighton as Huskies who have been drafted. Pietila was a fifth-round choice of the New Jersey Devils in 2011.

Khaira and Phillips are two of Tech's seven incoming players for next season.
