NEGAUNEE, MI. - Irene D. Kunick, 76, formerly of County Road, Negaunee, died at 2:57 a.m. on Friday, June 22, 2012 at Marquette General Hospital where she had been a patient for a week. She had resided at the Eastwood Nursing Center since November of 2010.
Irene was born October 9, 1935 in Ishpeming to Leonard and Bertha (Hahka) Pellow, was a graduate of Negaunee High School, Class of 1953, and was a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Kunick was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Negaunee and sang in the church choir for over 50 years. Her love was music and she also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and handwork. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend.
Surviving are 3 sisters: Mary Grawn of Negaunee, Patricia Carlson of Apache Junction, AZ, Leona (Victor) Orr of Suomi Location, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert E. Kunick in 2006, 2 sons, Robert P. Kunick in 1998 and Jeffrey L. Kunick in 2008, and an infant brother Leonard Pellow, Jr.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at the Koskey Funeral Home with Rev. Marcia Solberg, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Koskey Funeral Home from 12:00 noon until the time of services at 1:00 PM on Tuesday.
