We'd like to give a big honk of the horn to the Model A Ford Club of America's national convention.
The group visited Marquette County this week, bringing gleaming automotive nostalgia to life on the roads -?from the west end to the Superior Dome.
Every two years since its inception in 1997, the Model A Ford Club of America has hosted a national convention, drawing hundreds of enthusiasts together to celebrate their passion for the automobile. In the past, host cities have included Las Vegas, Dallas and Vancouver.
Ford Motors patriarch Henry Ford had deep connections to the Upper Peninsula through various mills and plants, as well as his vacation homes. So it was an honor to have his vintage vehicles on the roads of Marquette County.
The Superior A's chapter did a great job hosting the convention events in Marquette, Ishpeming and Negaunee. And the Model A owners were welcome guests on our streets.
We'll miss the soft "putt-putt"?of the Model A engines and the gleam of chrome. For a week, we had a chance to be transported back in time.
