MARQUETTE - Two Ishpeming residents have been arrested following a stabbing that took place at a Wright Street residence in Marquette early Monday morning.

A 19-year-old male and 19-year-old female were arrested Monday afternoon in connection with the alleged attack on Zachary Skinner, 19 of 520 Wright St., who was treated at Marquette General Hospital for multiple stab wounds. Police said Skinner - who lives at the residence where the alleged incident occurred - was fighting with the male suspect when the female suspect became involved. Police said Skinner was allegedly assaulted by both suspects and that the female suspect used a butcher's knife to stab Skinner in the head, leg and back. The altercation took place at about 1:25 a.m. Monday, according to police.

Officers were first dispatched to the scene after receiving a report of a woman screaming. Police declined to comment on whether the woman screaming was the same woman who has been arrested.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing and Marquette police are being assisted in the investigation by the Ishpeming City Police Department.
