Marquette’s Skylar Fortin, Alex Niemi score multiple victories Wednesday at Trenary BMX races

TRENARY - Marquette residents Skylar Fortin and Alex Niemi each won two races at the weekly event held at the Trenary Lions BMX track last Wednesday.

Niemi won the open intermediate race and a race for pit bikes, while Fortin was a 12-years-and-under intermediate and pit bike winner.

The track will continue to hold races through the end of June each Wednesday. Registration is from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. with racing to start at 7 p.m. Organizers remind prospective racers that one-day memberships are free.

Here are the moto race results from June 13, listed with the top racers first and their hometowns:

8-years-and-under Novice: Nicholas Singer, Munising; Amiya "Trouble" Trombley, Marquette; Lizzie Niemi, Marquette; Brent Wojtyniak, Trenary.

12 Novice: Seth Fortin, Marquette; Wade Krysiak, Trenary; Weston Hedges, Rapid River.

12 Intermediate: Skylar Fortin, Marquette; Lucas Basal, Marquette; Andrew Niemi, Marquette.

Intermediate: Alex Niemi, Marquette; Zach "The Patriot" Hallinen, Trenary; David Niemi, Marquette.

Pit Bikes: Skylar Fortin, Seth Fortin.

Pit Bikes: Alex Niemi, Zach Hallinen.
