Nickolas V. Kill of Negaunee High School was recently awarded the Dillon F. Menard Memorial Scholarship. The Menard family established the scholarship in memory of Dillon and his many accomplishments. The recipient must be a good student, show involvement in high school athletics and demonstrate an understanding of the "Teachings of the Seven Grandfathers," a set of values in the Native American (Anishinabbe) culture and how these principles - Bravery, Love, Truth, Honesty, Humility, Wisdom and Respect - influence their life. Kill, who'll be attending Michigan Tech University to study engineering, is the second recipient of the award and is shown accepting the certificate from Robert Menard, Dillon's grandfather.
