HARVEY, MI. Marion Carlton "Fritz" Fritzler, age 80, of 1581 East M-28, Harvey, entered eternal life Monday morning, June 11, 2012 at Marquette General Hospital.
Born August 1, 1931 in Cicero, Indiana, a son of John Henry and Suzie (Pennwell) Fritzler II, Fritz was raised in Flint, Michigan. He served in the US Army from 1952-1953, during the Korean Conflict, and was awarded the Bronze Star. He had been a Marquette area resident since 1969. Fritz was employed by Standard Oil and later owned and operated Fritzler Oil Company for many years. Following retirement, he enjoyed scroll saw woodworking. Fritz was a man of faith and Christian principles, often putting those attributes into action. He was an active member of the Silver Creek Church and performed volunteer services at Marquette General Hospital.
Fritz is survived by his wife of 58 years, Donna (Dowland) Fritzler; his sons, Craig (Jadine) Fritzler and Kurt (Denise Maki) Fritzler and his son in-law Jack Salminen; his grandchildren, Amy (Brian) Becker, Jill (Jason) Perroud, Joy (John) Benz, Rachel, Kristin, and Bethany Fritzler, Jonathan (Jordan) Makela, and Koehl Conrad; great-grandchildren, Samuel Becker, Eva, Claire, and Luke Perroud, Kayla, Katelyn, and Kara Benz, Zoe Lindberg, Troy, Clara, and Camdon Makela; his sisters, Ruie Chase, Naomi Barker, and LeDonna McNea; brothers, Carl (Jan) Fritzler and John (Kay) Fritzler; brother-in-law. Bill Dowland; and sister-in-law, Jean Dowland; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Fritz was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Salminen; and sisters, Iddella Poritt and Carolyn Worley.
Friends may call at the Swanson-Lundquist Funeral Home on Sunday from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm and at the church on Monday beginning at 10:00 am. Funeral services, celebrating Fritz's life, will be held at the Silver Creek Church, 219 Silver Creek Road, Harvey, on Monday, June 18, at 11:00 am with Pastor Kevin Taylor officiating. Veteran's honors will be accorded by members of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 380. A reception will follow. Burial will be made at the Northland Chapel Gardens.
