MARQUETTE, Mich. - Fae M. DePetro, age 87, of 540 W. Bluff Street, Marquette, entered eternal life Sunday, May 20, 2012 at her home.
Born January 8, 1925 in Ishpeming, a daughter of John and Emily (Collick) Ivey, Fae was raised in Ishpeming and was a 1943 graduate of the Ishpeming High School. On April 25, 1945, Fae married Daniel S. "Dan" DePetro at St. Michael Catholic Church, Marquette. Together, the couple made their home in Marquette and raised a family of eight children. While being a homemaker to her husband and eight children was a source of great pride for Fae, she managed to balance her busy home life with that of a working wife and mother. Throughout the years, Fae was employed in the bakery at the former Sweet Goods Shoppe, she was also in charge of the school lunch program at the Bishop Baraga Schools. She served as a Fuller Brush representative, worked at Northern Michigan University's Bookstore, and was employed with the Michigan Employment Security Commission. A devoted Catholic, Fae was an active member of St. Peter Cathedral where she was actively involved in coordinating the Prayer Line. She was also an active adorer of the Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration for the past sixteen years. Fae was a past member of the St. Peter Cathedral Altar Society, having twice served as president. As part of her strong catholic faith, she would also start each day and each evening with saying the daily rosary. Proud of her Italian connections, she was a member of the Paisano Club. One of her favorite pastimes included going out with family or friends for a good cup of coffee.
A loving mother and grandmother, Fae is survived by her children, Daniel (Wendy) DePetro of Mt Shasta, CA, Michael (Cathy) DiPietro of DePere, WI, Nancy Burdick of Appleton, WI, James (Lou Ann) DePetro of Green Bay, WI, Peggy (Wesley) Compton of Gwinn, Peter (Annette) DePetro of Marquette, William (Jacqueline) DePetro of Prescott, AZ, and Thomas DePetro of Daytona, FL; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
