MARQUETTE - Donations of gifts and gift certificates are being sought from businesses for an upcoming fundraiser for the Upper Peninsula Honor Flight.

The Honor Flight's goal is to bring every World War II veteran from the Upper Peninsula to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorial in their honor along with other national landmarks.

Through donations and fundraisers, the Honor Flight does not charge the WWII veterans a cent for the trip. The next U.P. Honor Flight is scheduled for Sept. 27.

The Full Throttle Bar and Grill in Little Lake will be hosting a special evening June 7 to raise funds for the Honor Flight. Donations are being sought for prizes for the event and can be items or gift certificates of any amount.

Flight organizer Barb Van Rooy will be in Marquette Thursday afternoon and would gladly pick up any items/certificates donated by businesses in the Marquette area. To arrange pickup, contact her at 906-280-1471.

Items or certificates can also be mailed to Upper Peninsula Honor Flight, 7610 S. Lake Bluff, 0.5 Drive, Gladstone MI 49837.
