FCM Wave ’98 win Superior Dome tournament

The FC Marquette Wave '98 girls soccer team successfully defended its title in the Superior Dome Soccer Tournament over the weekend. The Wave opened Friday with a 2-1 win over the DePere, Wis., Selects as Sydney Higgins had a goal and an assist and Amber Huebner added a goal for Marquette. On Saturday, the Wave defeated the Gaylord Extreme 5-0 with Huebner scoring all five goals, Higgins adding three assists and Molly Gaudreau and Bri Phillips combining for the shutout in the goal. In the final match Sunday, the Wave defeated the Cheboygan Waves 5-0 with Higgins getting two goals and an assist, Hanna Johnson a goal and assist, and Huebner and Gaudreau scoring goals. Gaudreau also combined with Phillips for the shutout. The Wave '98, runners-up in last year's USA Cup, have their next tournament May 19-20 in Traverse City.
