MARQUETTE - Excelling on both the soccer field and in the classroom, senior Caitlin Glendenning has been named Northern Michigan University's February 2012 Student-Athlete Scholar of the Month.

Selected by the NMU Athletic Council, Glendenning was nominated by Randall Jensen from the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department.

"Caitlin is always at the top of her classes, and is an excellent writer and thinker," Jensen said. "She's a leader outside the classroom, as well, and is a very personable and friendly young woman who's enthusiastic and hardworking.

"I anticipate she will continue to be a leader in her chosen field of physical therapy and in society."

Glendenning, from Green Bay, started as a defender for the Wildcat women's soccer team the past two seasons.

She was a co-captain in 2011 and a three-time selection to the All-GLIAC Academic Excellence team.

Glendenning has maintained a 3.92 grade point average through the winter 2012 semester, making the Dean's List all seven of her semesters at NMU.

She was the treasurer of NMU Soccer Club her freshman year and is a member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee.
