NMU wins St. Norbert track meet

DE PERE, Wis. - The Northern Michigan University outdoor track and field team won 11 events and broke a school record to take the three-team St. Norbert Twilight meet Thursday, scoring 85 points to 56 for the host Green Knights and 35 for Michigan Tech.

Junior Mallory Celaya broke the 3,000-meter steeplechase record for the second time this season, winning in 11:07.62.

The 'Cats had a pair of double winners, with freshman Angelina Howard winning both the 100 (12.3 seconds) and 200 (27.27), while senior Bailey Franklin taking the triple jump (36 feet, 4 inches) and high jump (5-4).

Other NMU winners included redshirt freshman Sherice Hewett in the 100 hurdles (14.97), 4-by-100 relay team (49.77), junior Colby West in the 400 hurdles (1:05.91), freshman Larissa Halonen in the 1,500 (4:53.13), sophomore Jamie Roberts in the pole vault (12-4), senior Melissa Christensen in the long jump (17-3) and junior Mariah Beaman in the javelin throw (120-2).
