MARQUETTE - Brendan Higbie took top honors at the Marquette American Legion Bantam AA end-of-season awards dinner.
A goaltender, Higbie was named the team's Most Valuable Player.

Top Defenseman, Jake Phillips; Unsung Hero, Brenden Shanahan; Defensive Forward, Alex Warchol; Playmaker, Luke Schwemin; Top Scorer, Ethan St. Germain; and Breakout Forward, Michael Farley.
Also, Breakout Defenseman, Noah Heichel; Rookie Award, Tristan Ashbrook; Heart Award, Nic Tuma; Coaches Award, Brock Smith; Attitude Award, James Hendrickson; and Determination Award, Kyle Lane.
In addition, Perseverance, Patrick Burmeister; Versatility, Brett Specker; Comeback, Kristian Jackson; Most Improved, Warchol; and Horizon Award, Travis Cameron.
Coach Brian Nebel's team went 31-25-9 overall this season, taking the District 8 title and the Silver Sticks Regional championship.
In addition, the Legion icers placed second in Northern International Hockey League play.
The also took runner-up honors at the Chicago Preseason Challenge, the Boo in the Soo tournament and the Traverse City Cup tourney.
