ESCANABA - Tickets are now available for the Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame induction banquet.
The 41st annual event is April 28 at The Danforth Place in Escanaba, at 6 p.m. (EDT). A record five women are among the 11 inductees. They were selected last year by the U.P. Sports Hall of Fame executive council based on nominations from fans. June 1 is the deadline each year to nominate candidates, with nominations sent to UPSHF executive secretary Dennis Grall, 600 Ludington St., Escanaba, 49829.
This year's inductees include: the late Larry Barkle of Iron Mountain; Shari (Ahola) Byerly of Gladstone; the late Cheryl (Dorais) Depuydt of Marquette/Houghton; Jeanette LeCaptain of Escanaba; Erica Ledy of DeTour; Joell (Johnson) Krejcarek of Little Lake; the late Carl Mattson of South Range; the late Jack Mugford of Laurium; Barb Perry of Norway; Terry Sayen of Gwinn/Munising; and Con Yagodzinski of Escanaba.
Banquet tickets are $20 and must be purchased by April 24. They are available from Grall at the Escanaba Daily Press (800-743-0609) and from the following UPSHF council members from the Superiorland:
