CHATHAM - Cash prizes will be awarded for the Ninth Annual "Tour da Woods" Mountain Bike Challenge on Saturday, Sept. 8, in Alger County.
The cash prizes are for the 25-mile race. Both overall male and female top finishers for "Hiawatha's Revenge" will receive $1,000 for first place, $500 for second and $250 for third, according to spokesperson Peggy Carberry.
The course will start at the Alger County Fairgrounds in Chatham and finish on Buck Bay Road just off M-94 across from Valley Spur, five miles south of Munising.
The course is "challenging, mostly single track and with little or no sand," Carberry said.
The "Red Deer Run" will also be offered the same day. It's an 11- mile course that starts and finishes on Buck Bay Road just off M-94 across from Valley Spur.
Those registering now through July 31 will pay $45; those from Aug. 1-31, it's $55; and those from Sept. 1-7, it's $65.00.
For racers 18 and younger, the rate is $30.
