Seaborg earns berth at national ski event

MARQUETTE - Brad Seaborg of Marquette finished fifth overall at a downhill ski race in Colorado last weekend to advance to a similar national event next week in Maine.

Seaborg, 12, a seventh-grader at Father Marquette Middle School, competed in the boys J4 division at the Marriott Junior Championships in Steamboat Springs, Colo., from March 13-17.

He finished in the top 10 and medaled in each race, coming in second in the slalom, fourth in giant slalom and eighth in Super G.

Seaborg was also chosen to compete at the Eastern K1 Can-Am Championships in Sugarloaf, Maine, from March 29-April 1, going up against the top 11- and 12-year-old boys from the U.S. and Canada.

Great Lakes Ski Academy teammate Josie Snyder, also 12 and a seventh-grader at Father Marquette, placed third and seventh in the GS in Colorado.
