MARQUETTE - United States Olympic Education Center speedskater Kimberly Derrick of Grand Rapids placed first in all four races in the women's division at the 2012 US Speedskating American Cup Finals and Short Track Age Group National Championships March 16-18 in Green Bay.
Teammate Chelsea Creveling of Frenchtown, N.J., took first overall in the intermediate ladies division.
A Northern Michigan University junior, Derrick won the 500 meter A final in 48.758 seconds. Derrick also won the 1,500, 1,000 and 1,500 superfinal race.
"I'm very pleased with my performance this weekend and I look forward to a new season in 2012-13," Derrick said.
Creveling, an NMU junior, placed first in the 1500, 500 and 1000 races with a third-place finish in the 3000 superfinal. Junior Chris Creveling of Kintersville, Pa., and sophomore Sarah Burg of Alpena placed fifth in the men's and women's division, respectively.
