MARQUETTE - The Marquette Country Inn and Suites hockey team went undefeated en route to winning the inaugural Michigan Amateur Hockey Association U19 Recreational State Championship at Lakeview Arena in Marquette over the weekend.
In round-robin play, Country Inn and Suites topped the Manistique Wildcats 6-0, Mackinaw City 4-1 and Negaunee Iron Range 2-0 to finish atop the American Division.
Negaunee finished 0-3 in the American Division with a 5-4 loss to Mackinaw City and a 7-4 loss to Manistique.

In Sunday's semifinals, Country Inn and Suites defeated Alpena, 6-1 to set up a rematch with Mackinaw City in the finals.
Marquette fell behind 3-0 in the first period, but rallied with four unanswered goals for a 4-3 victory in the state championship.
Marquette's Riley O'Connor posted the game-winning goal with 2:49 remaining in regulation. It was her second goal of the championship.
Leah Enright and Kate Garrow also had goals in the game with assists coming from Hannah Doucette, Madelyn Harrick, Garrow, Molly Matson and Katey Carey.
Garrow was named the tournament's most valuable player.
