Marquette sweeps in pool

MARQUETTE - Marquette ended its home season with a pair of victories in a high school swimming meet held Tuesday evening.

The Redmen defeated Manistique 133-36 while the Redettes scored a 130-47 victory.

MSHS coach Nathan McFarren lauded the accomplishments of his seniors in their last official meet in their school pool, with Kinsey Vear winning four events - the 200-yard freestyle and 100 breaststroke, both personal bests, and a leg on two victorious relay teams.

Cailin Short won the diving with 137.65 points; Eliza Short took the 200 individual medley, 100 backstroke and a leg of the 200 medley relay; and Sarah Wallace the 500 free and two relays.

For the boys, David Gilbert won the 50 free and diving and anchored two winning relay teams and Brandon Maher the 50 free.
