No panic at the end of this semester

December 11, 2011

With finals week around the corner I usually find myself freaking out and a nervous wreck on the verge of a breakdown.

But this semester I feel a sense of calm.

It's around this time that most students lock themselves up in the study room, their dorm room, the library or some sort of lab. Finals week is a stressful time for everyone on campus.

Fall semester of my freshman year, the power went out on campus. My roommate was reading her textbook for a final she had to take in an hour and she was really stressed already. The power outage put even more pressure on her but she kept on studying by the light of our laptops and phones.

That was probably the worst finals week -so far.

With only three academic classes this semester- one of them a poetry class - I find myself not having as much to do this finals week. For my poetry class, all I had to do for a final was turn in a portfolio of poems and show up to Stucko's for lunch to hand it in.

With that out of the way, I only have two finals left and they are on Wednesday and Thursday.

In the past, it seems like all my finals were all on Monday and Tuesday, so I would spend my entire weekend studying. That never seemed like enough time to prepare for them or finish my projects on time.

Having close to a week to study for my finals this semester gives me a sense of ease. I can take my time going over my notes and preparing for my exams. I think having that extra time will give me a better chance of getting the grade I want. As long as I spend that extra time right.
