VFW competitions set to start

NEGAUNEE - The Veterans of Foreign Wars V.A. Romo Post 3165 of Negaunee and its ladies' and men's auxiliaries are sponsoring the annual Voice of Democracy audio scriptwriting and Patriot's Pen essay competitions.

The Voice of Democracy contest is open to students in grades nine through 12, and the Patriot's Pen contest is open to students in grades six through eight.

Students must be enrolled in a public, private, parochial, or home-based study program to compete. Students do not have to be a relative of a member of the VFW or its auxiliaries.

Prizes are awarded for winners at the post, district, state and national levels. Deadline for entries is Nov. 1. For more information and entry forms, call 475-9183 or 869-1223.
