MARQUETTE - Although the suspect who was arrested in connection with Wednesday's shooting of a 49-year-old Marquette man is still in custody on a parole violation, charges in connection with the shooting have not been authorized and the investigation is ongoing.
"The investigation is ongoing with the Marquette City Police Department," said Marquette County Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Matt Wiese. "The police are working very hard on that."
The 22-year-old Marquette man was taken into custody Wednesday morning after he was found hiding in a vehicle across the street from the scene of a shooting at 1005 W. Ridge St. in Marquette.
John Adam Bradbury, 49, of Marquette was found dead in an apartment in the building from a shotgun wound to the chest while Rayan Zimmerman, 23, also of Marquette, sustained a shotgun wound to the leg.
Additional details on the incident have not been released.
In addition, law enforcement officials, upon obtaining a search warrant for the apartment where the shooting took place, discovered an operating methamphetamine lab.
Wiese said police officials are still working to ascertain what happened leading up to and during the incident.
The suspect, who has not yet been arraigned, is listed in the Michigan Department of Corrections Offender Tracking Information System as being on parole from Oakland County.
