To the Journal editor:
Democrats can be funny and entertaining people. Some of my good friends on the left suffer from a disorder which makes them unable to properly define many words whose meanings have been understood for years. It is easier to talk to Democrats if you understand their new lexicon.
The term "terrorist" cannot be used to describe those whose bombs target innocent civilians, but should be used when referring to those who believe the government spends too much money. "Choice" is a wonderful thing if it applies to abortion, but it is a terrible thing if it applies to buying a light bulb, car, or school lunch.
"Tax loophole" should not be used to describe special tax breaks given to political donors, but should be used to describe business expense deductions.
The term "racist" cannot be applied to a black person who hates white people, but can be used to describe those who think the government takes too much money from those who earn it.
"Hate-speech" does not apply to Democrats who hate Republicans, but does apply to Republicans who believe rules should apply equally to all people.
Telling people to love your neighbor makes you a "religious nut," but telling people to hate those you hate is called "free expression."
Wanting to keep most of what you earn makes you "greedy" while taking other people's money and giving it to those you like makes you "generous."
"Tolerance" means liberals should be given a public sponsored platform, but conservatives should be shouted down.
The opinion of a few dozen climatologists with an agenda is considered "settled science," but thousands of scientists who disagree with the religion of man-made climate change are considered "fringe scientists."
Speaking of religion a public library or city art center can display hate-filled messages and claim they are simply allowing the hate to be displayed, not approving it. But if a group sings Christmas carols at a school concert, many of these same people say that by allowing it to be performed on a public site the school is sponsoring a religious message.
You are "green" if you believe it makes sense to burn our food in our cars, but you are "raping the earth" if your toilet uses too much water.
This year, I recommend you give all your Democrat friends the birthday gift they really need: a dictionary. They probably won't thank you.
