June 1, 2011
The Mining Journal

K.I. SAWYER - Lake Superior Chapter 850 of the Experimental Aircraft Association will offer free airplane flights for ages 8 through 17 on June 11. Registration is from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Sawyer Airport's General Aviation Terminal, located approximately 1 mile south of the passenger terminal.

Parents or legal guardians must complete a permission form before the flight; relatives are not legal guardians. Students who flew in the program during prior years may now take additional flights.

Flights are offered through the Young Eagles program, sponsored by the EAA. All pilots are certified by the Federal Aviation Administration and donate the use of their planes. Flights may be canceled due to unfavorable weather conditions.
