Smith receives service award

MARQUETTE - Dr. Debra L. Smith, licensed clinical psychologist was awarded the Beth Clar Service Award by the Michigan Psychological Association at its statewide convention in April.

Smith was recognized for her volunteerism, initiative, perseverance, integrity, selflessness and good will on behalf of the association. She has been the state association's treasurer since January 2010 and serves as treasurer for the MPA Foundation. In addition, Smith serves as the rural health coordinator, representing MPA to the American Psychological Association, an appointment she has had for the past five years. She has been involved in bringing rural mental health concerns and psychological practice concerns to the MPA and has been integral in designing and providing professional support to rural psychologists.

Smith has a private psychological practice and acts as clinical consultant to other mental health organizations in the Marquette area.
