April 25, 2011
The Mining Journal

QuickTrophy LLC of Marquette unveiled its attempt at the World Record for Largest Trophy last Sunday on the campus of Northern Michigan University. The trophy, standing 22 feet 6.5 inches tall, will break the previous record of 16 feet 2 inches once it is officially processed by Guinness World Records. A team of QuickTrophy assemblers designed and built the trophy in conjunction with the recent world record breaking skateboard parade, of which QuickTrophy was a sponsor. The trophy consists of 23 wood bases, 18 cups, including an 18 inch metal championship cup, 12 skater and star figurines, and 48 columns adding up to a total of 192 feet of trophy column. The QuickTrophy team redesigned the trophy, adding more bases and support columns, after their first attempt collapsed after several minutes of standing in a cross wind. QuickTrophy is displaying its record trophy inside the Superior Dome atf Northern Michigan University.
