L'ANSE - The Plum Creek Foundation recently awarded $3,000 to the YMCA of Marquette County to help fund the purchase of new exercise bikes to be used for the YMCA's popular spinning classes.
According to Lisa Coombs-Gerou, CEO of the YMCA of Marquette County, the bikes that are currently being used for these classes were purchased eight years ago, and replacement parts for the bikes are no longer available. With the amount of use the bikes get, safety has become a point of concern. Because of this, the YMCA is forced to limit the number of members who are able to participate in the spinning classes.
"We would love to purchase new bikes so that we can offer more classes and serve more members of our YMCA," said Coombs-Gerou. "
