MARQUETTE - One person is running for an open seat on the Marquette Board of Light and Power.

Jerry Garceau, 47, is running for the seat occupied by Kenneth Wanberg. Wanberg cannot run for re-election because of term limits. It is a three-year term.

"I wanted to run to give back to the Marquette community. I think there are some important issues facing the BLP in the coming years and I feel honored to have the opportunity to run for the position and, if successful, working with the current board and the BLP staff to move forward and continue to operate efficiently," Garceau said.

He said the biggest issue facing the BLP is the restoration of the Tourist Park Dam area.
