To the Journal Editor
Residents and registered voters of Champion, Ely, Humboldt, Ishpeming, Spur And Tilden townships, it will soon be time to vote. The NICE School Board will have three open seats to fill. I want to inform you of the importance of this election. As a cost savings measure, the NICE elections are now being held in November of the even years and school board member terms have been changed from four years to six years.
Now is the time to ask yourselves: Have your concerns/ideas regarding the NICE School District been effectively brought to the floor? Have you had the opportunity to voice your opinions and share your concerns regarding: athletics; academic curriculum; special education; administrative accountability; clear and fair discipline policies; board policy in general; overall morale within our schools? Have you seen measurable change when bringing your concern forward?
Before casting your vote on Nov. 2, please ask the candidates who they are and why they should receive your vote. After all, they will be representing you, your children, your values and your district for the next six years.
