ISHPEMING — A line of skiers filed up the stairs, skis laying across one shoulder, helmets and goggles pushed up on their foreheads. At the top of the scaffolding, they stopped and set down their skis, adjusting their helmets, as one by one they pushed off down the hill and launched themselves into the air with a splash of water trailing their skis.

No snow was required at the second annual fall ski jumping tournament, held Sunday at Suicide Bowl.
