GREEN BAY, Wis. - Linda Ann Halvorsen, 45, of 1852 Hazel Court, Green Bay, Wis., went into her eternal rest on Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, at Marquette General Hospital.
Born in Marquette on Dec. 3, 1964, to Francis E. and Barbara L. (Johnson) Ward, Linda was raised in Skandia and was a 1983 graduate of the Gwinn High School. She continued her education at Northern Michigan University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree. It was during this time that she married Mark A. Halvorsen on Aug. 8, 1992, in Skandia. Linda then attended Indiana State University where she earned a doctorate in psychology. She and Mark resided in Marinette, Wis., for a time and it was there that her twin children, Alaina Pearl and Riley Joe were born. The family later moved to Green Bay where Linda has been employed with Prevea Health Care as a clinical psychologist.
Linda's children and family were her life and she loved being with them and spending time at family get-togethers. She also enjoyed the outdoors - camping, hiking, flower gardening, walking marathons - and relaxing with her canine companions, Nikki and Duncan. A born-again Christian, Linda was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Green Bay.
A loving wife, mother, daughter and sister, she is survived by her husband, Mark; children, Alaina Pearl and Riley Joe; parents, Francis and Barbara Ward of Skandia; three brothers, Richard Ward of Beaver Grove (Toni Olavarria of Marquette) and their children, Caitlin and Carlie Ward; David (Lisa) Ward of Marquette and their children, Amber and Kathryn; Scott (Laura) Ward of Ludington, Mich., and their children, Adelaide and Connor; her mother-in-law, Shirley Halvorsen of Marinette, Wis.; brothers-in-law John (Jackie) Halvorsen of Port St Lucie, Fla., and their children, Jennifer and James; and Eric (Susan) Halvorsen of Long Island, N.Y., and their children, Samantha and Taylor. Many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends also survive. Linda was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Jack Halvorsen, in November 2009.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 270 U.S. 41 East, Negaunee, on Tuesday, Aug. 17, from noon until the time of the service at 2 p.m. A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for an educational fund to be established for Linda's children.
The Swanson Funeral Home is serving the family, where condolences may be expressed online at www.fassbenderswanson.com.
