During a pause in the concert by the Slamtones, the IBA presented checks for $1,524 each to the Ishpeming Fire Department and the Ishpeming Township Fire Department.
"The Ishpeming Business Association has four or five events each year we put on," said Charlie Anderson, IBA chair. "Every year, we donate the proceeds from the events to a different cause. We find a worthy group to receive the money we made from Aug. 1 of last year to Aug. 1 of this year.
"This year, we selected the fire departments," Anderson said. "They will receive some $1,500 each in gratitude for what they do for the association and what they do for the community in general."
Cheryl Kellow, IBA treasurer, said two businesses were at the top of the money list in contributing toward the IBA's total: Elaine's Place with $823.36 and Congress Pizza with $242.95.
"We all are thrilled to be able to do this," Kellow said.
