MARQUETTE - A jury of eight men and four women has been selected to hear the John Stamos extortion case in U.S. District Court in Marquette.

There were also two men and two women selected as alternates.

Scott Edward Sippola, 30, and Allison Lenore Coss, 23, pleaded not guilty in May to a three-count federal grand jury indictment.

A total of 15 prospective jurors were excused for various reasons of cause. There were at least 64 potential panel members assembled to choose from.

in addition, there were a dozen men and eight women dismissed under pre-emptory challenges by attorneys.

Those in the pool represented occupations and hometowns across the Upper Peninsula including the towns of Houghton, Marquette, Menominee and Newberry.

Judge R. Allen Edgar estimated three to four days for the trial. Stamos is expected to testify.

The trial is expected to resume at 1:30 p.m. with preliminary instructions for jurors and opening statements by attorneys.
