MARQUETTE — There were so many people in the Citizens Forum Room at Lakeview Arena to talk about the Heartwood Forestland on Wednesday night that some had to sit on the floor, stand in the back or outside the building and listen in through the windows.
The crowd was there to discuss the Heartwood Forestland Ad Hoc Committee’s plan for the 2,243-acre, city-owned property. The committee, an 11-member panel of citizens representing various interests and user groups, studied the property from 2009 to 2010 at the request of Marquette city officials and released its plan in February.
