MARQUETTE — A black bear was tranquilized and removed from an eastside neighborhood Sunday afternoon.
The 150-pound, 2-year-old, male bear was spotted early in the morning in the 300 block of East Michigan Street, according to Marquette City Police. Police corralled the bear between Michigan and Ohio streets before calling in officials from the Michigan Department of Resources and Environment to assist.
Brian Roell, wildlife biologist from the DNRE, said that he was called at home to assist the police when they were unable to get the bear to leave on its own.
