Presque Isle Marina: City wants phased upgrades

March 30, 2010
Mining Journal

MARQUETTE — The Marquette City Commission on Monday committed to dredging the Presque Isle Marina, the first phase in the marina renovation project.
The dredging, though not yet bid, is estimated to cost $490,978 and will be included in the 2011-12 capital outlay budget. Half the cost will be funded by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Environment’s Waterways Commission. The other half will be city-funded — but the source of funds has not yet been decided.
It is the first phase of a proposed eight-phase renovation, although all eight phases may not necessarily be funded. Commissioners said they will make yearly decisions on each subsequent phase of the renovation.
