MARQUETTE -Members of the 652nd Engineer Company Detachment in Harvey returned to a hero's welcome as they rode through town this afternoon.
The detachment, which deployed in March 2009 with the 401st Engineer Company out of Oklahoma, was based in Baghdad and traveled all over Iraq to build, repair and maintain bridges. The unit also trained Iraqi military personnel on bridge maintenance.
The returning soldiers rode charter buses down Washington Street in Marquette on their way to the reserve center on Cherry Creek Road in Harvey.
