ISHPEMING - Temperatures hovered just above zero Wednesday night, but that didn't stop spectators from watching the 123rd annual ski jumping tournament at Suicide Hill Ski Bowl.
"This is our first time to come here for the ski jumping," said Alice Miljour of Suomi Location, who watched the jumpers with her family. "You just dress warm, lots of layers."
Those watching the tournament, part of the Midwest Five Hill Tournament and the Nor/Am SuperTour, had a perfect view of the largest jump from the bonfires at the base of the hill. Others watched from the warmth of their cars in the packed parking lot, honking their horns after each jump.
The tournament had 29 jumpers this year, ranging from the junior class up to the SuperTour class, which included athletes from Russia, Poland, Finland and Norway.
