ISHPEMING - After Monday's interviews with four potential candidates for the position of city manager, the Ishpeming City Council identified a top candidate Wednesday and voted to begin the process of potentially offering the person the job.
Jered Ottenwess, 31, manager of Trenton, Fla., stood out as the council favorite for the position following a discussion of the candidates at a special meeting Wednesday afternoon. The council voted to conduct further background checks on Ottenwess with the goal of eventually offering him the position. Ottenwess had requested confidentiality until the interview .
The council will meet at 4 p.m. next Thursday to hear the results of the background check.
